Patent Research

A plain-English companion to ATOFIA's issued patent portfolio. Each patent gets its own group: an overview plus a short series of articles explaining the problem it solves, how the claimed invention works, and what makes it novel. Grounded in the public filings — written for engineers, not lawyers.

How this section is organized

Nine issued patents, grouped into four families — Foundation, Identity & Gateway, Value Sets, and Entropy Engines. Every patent links to its live filing on Google Patents and, as the series rolls out, to a dedicated overview and article cluster. Articles are publishing on a rolling cadence; the foundation patent is live now.

Family 01 · Foundation

Keyless Encryption & Trusted Setup

The broadest patents in the portfolio — the keyless encryption scheme and the trusted-setup protocol that the rest of the portfolio builds on.

The foundation patent. Data encryption, decryption, and authentication with no certificate authorities, signatures, hashes, or asymmetric crypto. Read the overview ›

US 12,034,832 — Cryptographic Protocol for Trusted Setup

Establishing a trusted setup on a computer without delegating trust to a third party. Deep dive in progress.

Family 02 · Identity & Gateway

Identity & Gateway Proofs

Binding identity to a device-and-user pair, and the non-interactive gateway proofs that replace a chatty handshake.

US 12,212,653 — Proof of Identity & Self-Authentication for a Device + User Pair

Identity rooted in a unique device-and-user profile rather than a stored secret. Deep dive in progress.

US 12,556,367 — Satisfying Gateway Proofs and an Integrity Check

Non-interactive gateway proofs paired with an integrity check. Deep dive in progress.

Family 03 · Value Sets

Encryption & Decryption Value Sets

The data layer — the per-message value sets that encrypt, decrypt, and travel across the wire without a shared key.

US 12,289,394 — Encryption Value Sets for Encrypting Data

The six-value encryption value set: mixing scheme, bit value, two matrix sizes, and two deciders. Deep dive in progress.

US 12,463,796 — Decryption Value Sets for Decrypting Data

The decryption-side counterpart that reverses ciphertext without a transmitted key. Deep dive in progress.

US 12,615,138 — Transmitting an Encryption Value Set

Moving a value set across the network so that interception does not break the cipher. Deep dive in progress.

More to come

A cross-cutting article will explain how the three value-set patents interlock into one data-layer story.

Family 04 · Entropy Engines

Transformation Engines & Matrix Geometry

Where the patents meet the physics — transformation engines that run entropy functions on a matrix whose very dimensions are derived, not fixed. The tightest bridge to our thermodynamic cryptography research.

US 12,418,400 — New Transformation Engines and Entropy Functions

Each transformation engine executes a different entropy function on the input matrix. Deep dive in progress.

US 12,531,722 — Generate a Pair of Integer Values as Matrix Dimensions

Why the matrix dimensions are themselves generated, turning fixed block geometry into a moving target. Deep dive in progress.
